I Have Already Negotiated My Paternity Leave: Karanvir Bohra

You are back in a TV fiction show after a break...
I realised that I have missed fiction. It’s been a year since I haven’t done a fiction show. I was supposed to be a part of Naagin in Season 1 but then I was working on a film, so it didn’t happen.

How does it feel being surrounded by such gorgeous women – Mouni, Adaa and Aashka? Are you spoilt for choice?
I am not spoilt for choice but I do consider myself  lucky. Not only Mouni, Adaa and Aashka, we also have Sudha ji and the face of the show – Ekta. They are all pretty faces. I have known them for a very long time. There was no need to break the ice between us. We just jumped into our scenes.

You have done your best work in sequels, be it Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasautii Zindagii Kay. Is that a coincidence?
Yes, most of my work has been in second seasons, earlier they were called a leap. Just Mohabbat, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Saubhagyavati Bhava and now Naagin Season 2. By God’s grace, all of them had a great run.

What do you think will work for Season 2 of Naagin?
Ekta Kapoor. Naagin or no Naagin – Ekta works. She is gifted. All her shows are phenomenal. Nobody knew Naagin will be this big, but it did because of her conviction.

How easy or difficult was it to step into the supernatural world of Naagin 2?
The day you start to think ‘what the f*** is happening’, you are not meant for the industry. Naagin as a concept has been working for years. Be it movies or shows – they have been a hit. It is a good opportunity. You should believe in what you are doing. For this role I was told to go over the top.

Arjun and Mouni have great chemistry in the show. Are you ready for the comparisons?
I have taken all roles as challenges. They were fantastic. But now audience will get to see Shivangi and Rocky...and they will love them.

On the personal front, are you counting days to the other big event in your life?
I am so excited. I have already negotiated my paternity leave. While signing Naagin 2, I told them that I’ll be taking a 10-12 day-long break in between to visit Teejay in Canada. She will deliver the baby there. She won’t be here for the next 3-4 months as the baby needs to get accustomed to the outside world. Hardly 19-20 days left. Our life is going to change.

Have you thought of any names?
No, we haven’t found out the gender. We want it to be a surprise.

You have been married for 10 years. Are you ready become a father?
We are very overwhelmed right now. Earlier I was very ambitious about myself. Now I will prioritise my kid’s future. I have to take calculated risks. All this while my father was called papa, I was never called a papa. It will be a happy sudden change.
